ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Department of Civil Engineering was started in the year 2009. Post Graduate Programme in Construction Management and Engineering was started in the year 2012. The Department has a team of experienced faculty members excel in specialized areas of Structural, Environmental, Water Resources and Construction Management. The qualified faculty members extend their adequate support and guidance to the students of different calibre to enhance their understanding, analytical abilities and technical skills beyond curriculum. The department has laboratories with modern machineries make this course useful for students to become a good civil engineer. The department also provides technical and consultancy services to the society for the Civil Engineering related problems.
VISSION
To produce highly competent Civil Engineers of International Standards for catering to local, national and global needs and to provide state-of-the-art consultancy, research and development in various fields of Civil Engineering.
MISSION
1.To nurture Civil Engineers with competent Technical skills, Professional and Ethical Values to serve the Nation.
2.To transform the department into a Centre of Excellence in the field of Civil Engineering and allied research.
3.To provide knowledge base through Consultancy Services to the community in all areas of Civil Engineering.
4.To inculcate innovation and eco sustainable construction in the minds of budding Civil Engineers to face ever evolving challenges.
Civil Engineering Association was named after the famous Tamil Architect Raja RajaCholan as Rajarajacholan Association of Civil Engineers (RACE). It organizes lot of Technical activities like Guest Lectures, Symposium, Conference, Workshops, Paper Presentation, CADD contest, Poster Presentation to train the students to become all-rounded professional Civil Engineers who are able to compete effectively in the modern society.
Tamilnadu State Council for Science and Technology granted Rs.10,000 for the project titled “Fibrous concrete – Waste chicken as fiber in concrete” and “Toughness study on hybrid reinforced composites” under Student Projects Scheme to Civil Engineering Department in 2016-2017
Tamilnadu State Council for Science and Technology granted Rs.7,500 for the project titled “Experimental Investigation of Cement Concrete with Partial Replacement of E-Plastic waste as Coarse Aggregate and Adding Human Hair Fiber” under Student Projects Scheme to Civil Engineering Department in 2019-2020 guided by Mrs.V.Sakthi Maragatham.
